In 2026, Bruns launched Off the Precipice, a YouTube channel focused on AI, journalism and the rapidly changing media landscape. The channel generated more than 90,000 views in its first five months, combining original reporting, analysis and practical guidance for journalists navigating the AI era.

"Raising Barriers" is an award-winning 2016–2017 multimedia project by The Washington Post that examined the global surge in border walls, fences, and security measures, winning the National Press Foundation’s Innovative Storytelling Award. The series, which explored the geopolitical, physical, and human impact of these barriers, included interactive videos and in-depth reporting from various border locations, such as Europe during the migrant crisis and the U.S.-Mexico border.
A picaresque tour of infrastructure reveals a struggle for control all along America’s great river, full of questions about what it once was, doubts about what it will become and who will pay for any of it.
